
Thomas Jeffrey Hanks was born July 9, 1956. He is an American actor as well as a filmmaker and director. He is well-known for his dramatic and comedic role. Hanks is an American cultural icon. Thomas Jeffrey Hanks was a Concord, California native to Janet Marylyn Hanks, a hospital worker and Amos Mefford Hanks an itinerant cook. His mother was named "Fraga" while his father was English. Tom was born into the family he refers to as "fractured". He had no acting experience in college and credits his inability be cast in a university production with starting his career. He went downtown, and auditioned for a community theatre production, and was invited by the director of that play to go to Cleveland where his acting career was born.
